About Us

Shape Perceptions and Foster Meaningful Change Through Storytelling and Music

Our goal is to explore and promote the essential role of fathers in their children's lives through the arts, particularly music. We began by collecting stories of the joys and challenges fathers face, recording over 60 interviews with individuals reflecting on their experiences with their own fathers, as well as their personal journeys in fatherhood.

Our work emphasizes the diversity of fatherhood experiences, recognizing that the question of who “Papa Was” is unique to each individual. Through these stories, we aim to shed light on the various ways fathers contribute to their families, often overcoming significant challenges to do so. By sharing these narratives, we encourage a broader understanding of fatherhood, one that celebrates both the struggles and the successes of being a father. Our mission is to reach a global audience with this message, using music as a bridge to connect with people from all walks of life.

The Papa Was Project continues to evolve, developing new ideas and programs to spread the message of positive fathering. Our work serves as a testament to the power of storytelling and music in shaping perceptions and fostering meaningful change. Join us in this important journey, as we honor and uplift the role of fathers in communities around the world.
